Very little known about recent shooting that left one man dead

The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department is investigating an apparent homicide that occurred over Memorial Day weekend, but so far their initial efforts have been unsuccessful. The victim, an 18-year-old male, was found dead with a gunshot wound to his head.

When someone is fatally wounded, people expect serious charges to follow in a timely manner. Although the exact circumstances of this shooting are not immediately known, an arrest will likely be made. The accused could face serious charges, including murder and weapons charges.

Although the investigation is ongoing, some reports have indicated that the victim himself may have been involved in an altercation that unfortunately led to his untimely death. Accounts of a large-scale argument involving up to 30 people may have led to the shooting. One person reported that the victim may have been the one to fire first.

Police have indicated the area where the shooting occurred is a place where witnesses are not particularly helpful with their investigations. The initial investigation did not turn up any guns or shell casings. If the victim was indeed a participant in the shooting that may mean that someone else involved confiscated his firearm before law enforcement arrived on the scene.

Initial reports regarding the police investigation seem to favor anyone who is arrested since authorities have apparently been unable to collect any physical evidence or extract any potential witness testimony. The lack of firsthand accounts or the seizure of a gun used in the shooting could make it difficult for prosecutors to prove their case.
