22-year-old arrested for rape, booked into Placer County Jail

In our society today, there are certain criminal charges that catch more attention than others. Rape is one of them. Being charged with rape can almost immediately destroy a personal or professional reputation, and often the charge comes with an extremely high bail amount. Recently, a man in the local area was arrested for rape, and he is sitting in the Placer County Jail with a bail amount set at $150,000.

Almost every type of sex crime allegation is difficult to defend against, but this man may have a steeper challenge than most. According to the reports, the 22-year-old suspect was arrested after allegations were made that he had sex without consent with a woman who was under medical care due to her severe disability. The initial reports indicate that the man was an employee of the care center where the woman was staying.

Apparently, due to the woman's disability, the rape was not immediately reported to police. It was only after her caretakers noticed that she was pregnant that the authorities were notified. However, it is the manner in which the 22-year-old man came under suspicion which is somewhat unique in this case. After the allegations surfaced, the other male employees of the care center gave DNA samples and were subsequently excluded from the investigation. Police reportedly had their suspicions about the 22-year-old man, which led them to obtain a DNA sample from one of his relatives, since the man himself could not be located. That DNA sample allowed them to get a warrant for the suspect.

If there is a DNA match in this case, it appears that the suspect will have a hard time crafting a viable criminal defense strategy. However, all of our Roseville readers should remember that, in this country, everyone is innocent until proven guilty.
