Roseville Police arrest teacher on sex crimes charges

Police in Roseville arrest people every day, but there are some cases that probably stand out to local citizens when they hear them on the news. That was probably the case recently, when a 35-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly having sexual conduct with a minor.

According to the reports, this woman was a former teacher of the alleged victim, who is said to have been in his teens at the time. The relationship was reported to have lasted approximately one year. The teacher was arrested on charges of oral copulation with a minor and sex with a minor.

Sex crimes involving children usually garner significant resources from the investigating authorities. Our readers have no doubt heard of many of the techniques employed by the authorities in their attempts to curb sexual conduct with minors, including police stings aimed at online relationships between two parties who have yet to meet.

For anyone facing these types of charges, the penalties involved can end up being quite severe. Not only is there the immediate damage to a person's reputation, but an immediate loss of employment could result as well. And, for someone in a special position of trust - like this former teacher - the public condemnation could be swift and severe, even before the judicial process has a chance to play out.

Upon her arrest, this teacher was booking into the Placer County Jail with bail set at $100,000. She was released on bail the same day. Now, her focus will most likely be on building a strong criminal defense. The initial reports did not hint at any specific evidence the prosecution may have gathered, although it was indicated that it was the school system that reported the alleged criminal activity to the authorities.
