Evidence results in dismissal of weapons charge for Young Jeezy

It's understandable that most people might assume that an arrest for an alleged crime automatically means that an individual will have to face charges in court. Some may be surprised to learn that this is simply not the case. Young Jeezy, a popular rapper, was arrested on suspicion of breaking the law, but he ultimately had his weapons charge dismissed.

Young Jeezy was one of six people who were arrested following a shooting that occurred backstage at one of his California concerts. However, authorities never actually identified those arrested as potential suspects in the shooting. Instead, Young Jeezy was charged for allegedly possessing an assault weapon, which is a felony charge.

Young Jeezy spoke out against his arrest and questioned the motives of the authorities, claiming that it could not have been made based on evidence. The judge overseeing the case appeared to agree with this opinion and dismissed the charges against all six of those arrested. According to prosecutors, there simply wasn't any evidence to pursue the charges. California police are still investigating the shooting death of the man backstage at the concert, although it appears that no other arrests have been made.

The dismissal of his weapons charge likely comes as a relief to Young Jeezy. Others in California who suspect that their arrest may have been made in haste or based upon less than credible evidence may take note of the success of the request for a dismissal of the charges in this instance. Carefully reviewing the charges and related evidence alongside his or her counsel can provide an individual with valuable insight in how to proceed in order to garner the most favorable outcome possible. While some find that entering into a plea deal or fighting his or her charge in court may be most beneficial, others may determine that filing a motion for outright dismissal of the charges is appropriate.
