Man charged with sexual assault after meeting girl on phone app

Humans are animals, which means being driven partially by instinct and physiological impulses. However, many times these impulses run contrary to what society deems acceptable. When it comes to sexual impulses, this can cause serious legal problems for many. This seems to be what one man is facing after being arrested recently for sexual assault on a minor in California.

The 30-year-old man was caught inside the room of a 14-year-old girl in late July. Apparently, the man and the alleged victim had met each other while using a smartphone app known as Badoo. The app is designed to enable hundreds of individuals close to one another to meet in real life. Supposedly the app is designed to only allow those who register a birth date making them 18 years old or older.

However, it turns out that one of its users, the alleged teenage victim, may have lied about her age when registering for the smart phone app. The teenager's grandmother called police early in the morning at approximately 2:40 a.m., reporting that somebody was locked inside of her granddaughter's bedroom. The suspect was discovered inside the young girl's room. The police reports claim that the man was partially clothed when discovered.

On the other hand, the man may or may not have known the girl was a minor at the time of the incident in California. This is just one of the possible legal defense strategies that may be available to the defendant when answering the sexual assault charges. However, the strategy the defendant ultimately chooses will depend upon the evidence and testimony the prosecution plans to use against him. If the defendant is successful, he may be able to have the charges dropped or at least reduced.
