Motorcycle gang members face a weapons charge in California

Most individuals have the right to bear arms with the proper registration and background checks. However, failure to do so can result in serious legal consequences. A group of Hells Angels motorcycle gang members have found themselves facing issue. The group of men were recently arrested on a weapons charge in California.

The incident happened during a traffic stop by police one evening in late July. The police officers pulled over a car operated by a 26-year-old man for an alleged traffic violation. This is when the police officers discovered that the man did not have a driver's license. The police officers then asked the man to step out of the vehicle. As he did so, the man allegedly dropped a knife.

The police officers say they then spotted a handgun laying on the vehicle floor. This prompted the police to further search the vehicle. They say then discovered four loaded handguns as well as a shotgun. The police then obtained a search warrant, allowing them to search the driver's residence.

This led the police to find another shotgun at the home of the driver. Two male passengers, ages 26 and 60, were also in the car at the time of the incident. All three vehicle occupants were arrested and charged with weapons violations.

Facing a weapons charge in California is a serious matter and can result in significant time behind bars should the accusations result in a conviction. Nevertheless, the three individuals have every right to defend themselves against the criminal charges in court. The charges must be proved beyond a reasonable doubt against each separate individual accused, and each defense counsel will likely focus on potential legal charges to the search as well as factual challenges to the evidence as asserted against all of the defendants.
