Highway patrol officer accused of child pornography

A highway patrol officer in California has been accused of committing a sex crime. According to authorities, he was involved in child pornography. The man facing criminal charges is 54.

Police arrested the man at his home on a recent Monday afternoon. The arrest was made after police conducted a cyber investigation for two weeks. The Hi-Tech Task Force for the county led the investigation and reported that the man was willingly sending out child pornography.

Authorities searched the man's home as well as his electronic devices during their investigation. Two children and a woman were at the man's home at the time of his arrest. After being taken into custody, the man posted a bail of $50,000. He is expected to remain on paid leave until the child pornography investigation has been completed.

When an individual in California is accused of committing child pornography offenses, the charges filed against him or her have to be proved beyond a reasonable doubt before a conviction can happen. This standard is in place in an effort to prevent innocent people from being convicted of crimes they did not commit. A close look at the evidence that the prosecution plans to present at trial very well may be a chief area of concentration for the criminal defense in such a case. Defense counsel will pursue the most personally favorable outcome for the accused individual considering the circumstances surrounding the case. At the same time, the criminal defense will strive to make sure that none of the client's applicable rights are violated during any point of the criminal proceedings.
