19-year-old arrested for drunk driving in Roseville

A driver from Roseville was arrested by Santa Cruz police last week and charged with drunk driving. However, before he was eventually arrested, he led authorities on a chase through downtown Santa Cruz after they unsuccessfully tried to pull him over. The 19-year-old man must now face serious charges in criminal court related to DUI, avoiding arrest and other charges.

Police eventually apprehended the man in the parking lot of a Safeway after they boxed him into the area with their patrol cars. They also deployed spike strips to render the man's vehicle in operative.

Allegedly, the man refused to exit his vehicle. However, a police officer who is a member of the local Crisis Negotiating Team was able to coax the driver out of his car.

The man was charged with driving under the influence. In addition, he was charged with marijuana sales, reckless driving and evading arrest while disregarding public safety. He was taken to the Santa Cruz County Jail. As of last reports he was being held on bail of $10,000.

Have you been arrested for a crime in the Roseville area? It's important to remember that -- no matter what your charges -- you will remain innocent in the eyes of the law until, and only if, you are found guilty of the alleged crimes beyond a reasonable doubt. Until a guilty verdict has been achieved by the prosecution, or until you enter a guilty plea, you cannot be punished for the crime. Having an experienced criminal defense lawyer on your side can help you navigate your criminal proceedings in a way that tries to minimize the threat and/or severity punishment in your case.
